01

Why it exists

Many jobs do not need a building model. A foreman ordering materials for one slab, a wall or a staircase needs quick component quantities and a purchase list, but ends up with a calculator, a norms book and a spreadsheet.

Waste factors and rounding are applied inconsistently, prices are out of date, and orders are either short or wasteful.

02

Who it is for

  • Foremen and site supervisors

Need to order the right amount of material for a specific element today.

  • Homeowners and small builders

Need an estimate of what to buy and what it will cost before they start.

03

What it does

  • Component quantities

Enter type, dimensions and count for slabs, beams, walls and other components.

  • Consolidated quantity schedule

Combine several components into one schedule.

  • Material conversion

Convert measured work into materials using named norms, units and rounding rules.

  • Purchasing cost

Apply your own current prices to get quantities to buy and estimated material cost.

04

How it works

  1. 01In development

    Input

Component type, dimensions, quantity, material rules and optional waste factors.

  2. 02In development

    Calculation

Component quantities and a consolidated schedule.

  3. 03In development

    Materials

Named norms, units and rounding rules.

  4. 04In development

    Purchasing

User-supplied prices, quantities to buy and estimated cost.

Example

A 4 m × 5 m slab, 120 mm thick: the calculation gives the concrete volume, the material layer converts it to cement, sand and aggregate with a stated waste factor, and the purchasing layer rounds up to purchasable units at the price you entered today.

05

What makes it different

  • Calculator first, no model required

Start from one component. Whole-building geometry, object relationships and drawing output belong to VPbuild.

  • Visible assumptions

Norm source, waste, rounding and price date are shown next to each result, so the number can be checked.

06

Current status

Status: Currently Building

Active implementation is underway.

Currently building the calculator suite. No public build is available yet.

Current limitations

  • Not yet available to use. The calculators are in active development.
  • Costs will be estimates based on prices you supply, not market quotations.
  • No technical integration with VPbuild is available or promised at this stage.

07

Roadmap

Now

  • Component quantity calculators
  • Material conversion rules

Next

  • Consolidated schedule and purchasing cost
  • First external test build

Later

  • Shared material, norm and price catalogues

No dates are shown unless they are committed.

08

Engineering and trust

  • Traceable calculation

Each result will list its formula source, units, waste factor, rounding rule and price date.
